Colbert at the Correspondents Dinner

You've already heard about this. I'm just making it easier to find.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Stephen Colbert's material is fantastic and the reception is icy. Why did they invite him? To appear hip? Yesterday the news was full of a goddamn impressionist. "Look what a sense of humor the President has! He stands there while a guy who looks like him tells jokes!" Here's the real story. A great comedian (and Mike Brumm's boss) does a half an hour and Bush gives him a stone face. Some sense of humor.

You know the best part is, I think they really didn't know what they were getting when they added Colbert to the line-up. I think the moderator was serious when he mentioned Colbert's statement about the AP. What a fucking hero Colbert is. He really blasted the president and he did it right in front of him. If there was ever a moment since 2000 to be proud of, that was it. Finally, finally, finally, someone got to say it to Bush's face. Fuck Bush and that wicked witch he calls his wife.

I think this should be mandatory viewing. I really do - it was great - thank you for posting it! Classic - the best example of great material and an audience blind in the head lights. It is kind of like booking Doug Stanhope for an AA conference. I loved it!
