Hurricane blog

Hurricane Katrina is currently slamming New Orleans, a city I love but would not want to be anywhere near right now. Miles O' Brien is currently blogging from there. I'm a big enough geek that for a moment I wondered how he got off Deep Space Nine.

COMPLETE WALL AND ROOF FAILURE. ALL WOOD FRAMED LOW RISING APARTMENT
BUILDINGS WILL BE DESTROYED. CONCRETE BLOCK LOW RISE APARTMENTS WILL
SUSTAIN MAJOR DAMAGE...INCLUDING SOME WALL AND ROOF FAILURE.

HIGH RISE OFFICE AND APARTMENT BUILDINGS WILL SWAY DANGEROUSLY...A
FEW POSSIBLY TO THE POINT OF TOTAL COLLAPSE. MANY WINDOWS WILL

INLAND HURRICANE WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT

HURRICANE KATRINA CONTINUES TO MOVE INLAND ACROSS SOUTHEAST
MISSISSIPPI. HURRICANE FORCE SUSTAINED WINDS WILL PERSISTS ACROSS
MUCH OF THE WARNED AREA THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. MAXIMUM WIND GUSTS
BETWEEN 100 AND 125 MPH ARE LIKELY TO CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON...
THEN GRADUALLY DIMINISH DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.
